About Alex
Formal Education and Training
I hold a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary School of Psychology. Major areas of study included: Family Therapy, Marital Therapy, Psychopathology, among others, as well as extensive study in the interplay of religion, faith, and psychology.
Current Professional Status
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (T1760) and Licensed Professional Counselor with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT). I participate in ongoing continuing education in subjects relevant to the field and practice. I am also a clinical supervisor helping to develop new therapists and counselors.
Professional Competencies
For 20 years, I have worked to help, individuals, couples, and families heal and reconnect. For seven years, I specialized in helping troubled teens turn their lives around. During that time, I also served as a group facilitator providing domestic violence intervention for court-mandated domestic abusers in Washington County. In my current practice, I treat a variety of challenges and concerns that arise over the course of life, from adolescence to adulthood. Common concerns include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, or exposure to acute or chronic trauma and Post traumatic Stress. I utilize various intervention methods including the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address the above concerns.
I also specialize in helping couples as they prepare for or reinvest in their marriage. In some cases, this means addressing communication issues, conflict resolution, or parenting challenges. In others it means supporting spouses experiencing more pronounced discord, significant life transitions, loss, or even betrayal and infidelity.
Fees & Policies
My standard hourly rate is $200.00 for a 50-minute session. Longer sessions for more intensive sessions such as for EMDR or certain Couples or Family sessions are also available depending on the complexity and billed pro rata. Payment is due at the beginning of session on a weekly basis via cash, check, or credit card.
Insurance
I do not accept insurance and am considered an out of network provider. You may investigate if your insurance benefits cover services from out of network providers and what those terms are. Depending on your plan you may be able to submit paperwork to your insurance company in order to apply our sessions to your out of network deductibles and/or receive reimbursement for the costs whether in whole, or in part. I am happy to provide a bill of services that you can provide to your insurance company upon request if you find you have eligible out of network coverage.

Surprise Billing Protection Form
This notice describes your protections against unexpected medical bills. Italso asks if you’d like to give up those protections and pay more for out-of-network care.
IMPORTANT: Your provider will provide a Good Faith Estimate of potential charges for participation in therapy. Since it is impossible to accurately predict how many sessions will be required to resolve symptoms or concerns, the estimate will list the costs to participate weekly for a year. Treatment is individualized and your participation may be shorter or longer depending on your needs. You aren’t required to sign this form and shouldn’t sign it if you didn’t have a choice of health care provider before scheduling care. You can choose to get care from a provider or facility in your health plan’s network, which may cost you less. If you’d like assistance with understanding the estimate, ask your provider.
_______________________________________________________________________
You’re getting this notice because this provider or facility isn’t in your health plan’s network and is considered out-of-network. This means the provider or facility doesn’t have an agreement with your plan to provide services. Getting care from this provider or facility will likely cost you more.
If your plan covers the item or service you’re getting, federal law protects you from higher bills when:
• You’re getting emergency care from an out-of-network provider or facility, or
• An out-of-network provider is treating you at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center without getting your consent to receive a higher bill.
Ask your health care provider or patient advocate if you’re not sure if these protections apply to you.
If you sign this form, be aware that you may pay more because:
• You’re giving up your legal protections from higher bills.
• You may owe the full costs billed for the items and services you get.
• Your health plan might not count any of the amount you pay towards your deductible and out-of-pocket limit. Contact your health plan for more information.
